Thanksgiving Week

Hello to all. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Our week was busy but a blessing. Sunday we came to help out around the house and noticed that there was no one coming to prepare a meal for our families Monday evening so we took that opportunity to do so. We served up a meatloaf, lasagna, garlic bread, salad and some cookies. It was great. Wednesday we arrived to find a few families needing help checking in and showed them around the house. Thursday was our Thanksgiving Day. We had a Mother and daughter duo come in and make a small breakfast for the families and also a great group of friends came and made the entire Thanksgiving meal. It was delicious. Earl spent some time talking with a couple whose baby is only a few pounds and days old. They asked us to come to the hospital to the NICU this coming week to pray over the baby and them. Not by our might or power, but by the Spirit of the One True God.

Up Coming Holiday Plans

We just did our final Breakfast Outreach for this year. The house was extra quiet and so we only had a few families come, but each one expressed their thankfulness of having us there. One family in particular, who just arrived late the night before, spoke of how touched they were that we were willing to sacrifice our time for them in their time of need. We then asked about their loved one and offered prayer.
Monday we came to volunteer and when we arrived the manager shared with us that the house was getting a new phone system put in. Pam was asked to escort the gentleman from the phone company into all 22 rooms while Earl was being taught how to use the new phone at the  main lobby desk. While she went room to room with, Beau, the phone man, she shared Jesus with him. By the time they returned to the front desk they were quoting scriptures and full of joy. We soon were sharing PAID4U and our love for the Lord and all that He has done for us, in us, and through us.  When we arrived Tuesday morning to do the breakfast outreach, Beau was here once again and joyfully told us that he couldn't wait to talk with his wife last night after meeting us and shared with her that he had met a couple who was as in love with Jesus as much as they were, and even more passionate to share Him with others. We were touched by his words.
We have signed up to volunteer for Thanksgiving Day. They have an organization coming to cook the main meal but needed extra bodies to help be with the families in making their Thanksgiving as pleasant as can be. We also will come Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after, as their regular volunteers are busy with their own families and the houses need bodies during this holiday season. We will also be doing other events in between the holidays.

Breakfast Outreach

We have been doing a lot of volunteering at the RMH. It has been a great opportunity to meet the many families that come through the doors of these two houses. Tuesday we had another breakfast event. It was slow at first, but in time the families began coming in and enjoying some hot coffee, hot chocolate and fresh pancakes and sausages. We got a chance to hear some more updates and to say a few goodbyes as some were sharing their good news of going home.
On Wednesday night we came to help out in the kitchen to join the Lee Family in making and serving dinner. They had been a family who stayed at the house a few weeks prior as their 17 year old daughter Taylor underwent open heart surgery. When we showed up, to our surprise, Taylor was there to cook also. Just a week after her surgery, with a smile on her face, a scar down her chest, and an attitude of helping others and giving back, there she was with her family. We had not met Taylor, but had been praying for her, but it seemed like we had known her and the Lee family our entire lives. It was a great evening sharing our heart surgery stories, our Faith in Jesus, and our love for helping others.
Another breakfast outreach is scheduled for next week.
